Dmitry Kozachenok

Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Dmitry Kozachenok has over 10 years working with both Fortune 500 companies and startups. As a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company, he worked with large industrial businesses. Immediately prior to founding Ecto, Dmitry lead the go-to-market and commercialization strategy at an early stage venture. Dmitry was instrumental in signing Ecto’s first customers which include some of the 10 largest aquaculture companies in the world. Dmitry’s undergraduate degree is in Applied Mathematics and Economics. He also holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.

James Webb, PhD

Co-Founder and Lead Scientist

Dr. James Webb co-founded Ecto and is the Chief Scientist. He has broad experience in pharmaceutical biotechnology, fish biology, plant biology, molecular genetics, aquaculture system design, and commercial project management. Under his leadership, Ecto developed technologies and products related to high-throughput gamete and embryo preservation, on-site genotyping and disease diagnostics tailored for aquaculture facilities in both developed and developing countries. Prior to starting Ecto, James conducted operational audits of existing commercial aquaculture operations and developed new aquaculture ventures as a post-doctorate researcher at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He has participated in aquaculture research and development projects in USA, Norway, Chile, Japan, Australia, Panama, Uganda, and Taiwan working with salmon, tilapia, shrimp and tuna. James started his professional career in Idec Pharmaceuticals where he was involved in high-throughput development initiatives. He completed his Master’s degree in Aquaculture from the University of Tasmania and his doctoral studies at Florida Atlantic University

Gary Livshin

Chief Technology Officer

Gary is an expert in building highly scalable and agile teams and developing B2B and B2C technologies that require speed to market. He has more than 20 years of software development and technology management experience. Gary earned his BA in Computer Science from Brandeis University.

Jeff Kumik

Director of Customer Success

Jeffrey Kumik leads Ecto’s finance and operations functions and serves as a client success manager for the Chilean salmon market. Jeffrey is a business development expert with 7 years of focused national and international experience in deal negotiation, supply chain expansion, design optimization, and multifaceted cost reduction. After graduating with degrees in both mechanical and manufacturing engineering, Jeff joined General Electric’s locomotive services cost optimization team, where he was instrumental in a host of critical cost-cutting initiatives, saving over $150 million during his tenure.

Tim Humphrey

Director of Integrations

Tim Humphrey leads Ecto’s integrations team. Over the last 20 years, Timothy has acquired expertise in database architecture, automated control systems, electronic design, 3D printing, rapid prototyping, hydraulic engineering, resource management, and product development. He studied recirculating aquaculture systems and designing community-supported aquaculture systems for local food supply at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
